My Trip To Fiji

It was fun preparing for the trip to Fiji. The packing and the thoughts of being back with my friends and relatives was very exciting. We packed so much stuff like clothes, food stuff, and beddings for the victims of the hurricane Winston.

Upon arrival we realise that the heat was too overwhelming and finding my mum too emotional changed dried up all the excitement.
It was nice meeting all my cousins and staying at my grandparents place for the first time was fun.

The first couple of days was spent shopping for the victims and packing up stuff in boxes and bags. We heard from people that victims were provided food rations from a lot of groups and government aids so my mum decided to donate washing detergents and toiletries as well as packets of cereal and biscuts from here. The best was that mum gave each family a bed sheet or a duvet cover. We were able to help 50 to 60 families and that was very very emotional for us all.

I have never felt so emotional and drained in my whole entire life before but it was all for a good cause.

A Beautiful Day

           A Beautiful Day

     There's not a cloud today
Just a sky of blue
As the sun shines bright
It feels so new

As you walk down the street
You can see smiles from all around
It looks like everyone
Came to town

To enjoy the summer's day
And let time stand still
For a little while
Just until

The reason why I have written this poem is simple, i just thought that it was a beautiful day and that it should be appreciated.

   25/0216                        My  iReflection.....
Today i had managed to finish all my work and i finally decided what i wanted to do for my iExplore.I had decided that i was  going to do a recipe book with Justin.L, Anjli and Riyah. Straight after iBreak 2 we had to go in to our iExperience groups to present our presentations.
Well  we didn't really present it as in stand up and present it we sat down and one member of our group had to read everything out loud.

We had to make a list of things that we can do to save energy then we had to find a buddy but a buddy  that we've  never spoke to or worked with so my buddy was Isaac.I helped him do his work and helped him with his spelling and it really seemed like he was finally focusing.

All of a sudden while we were still in our groups we were called to meet the learning coaches in the Town Hall so we rushed over to the Town Hall.Straight after the learning coaches called us they told us that it was time for iReflection.

                        MY REFLECTION
WHAT-
This week we did our art grids  and we had to draw 8 things about our identity. For our iExplore we are learning about Chinese new year , Deaf culture and Treaty of Waitangi. My favourite iExplore lesson was Chinese New year. It was super fun and we got to know our year zodiac sign.

WHAT NOW-

Right now in the habitat we are doing a lot  such as: Hapu group rotation, Workshops, iExperience and our  iExplore. I've learned a lot so far and I'm loving how the learning coaches are making the lessons fun and clear to understand.

SO WHAT-

So we have planned to have our Habitat Hui and we have already had it and it went great. Everything went well and no mistakes were made. iExplore was #oresome. We get to do mini researches. Either in a pair or whole group.

I've been loving school so far. All the iExplore and iExperince learning is #oresome so far. I've learned a lot and it was super fun!!

Margaret's Blog Writing Learning Story

Learners: Margaret                                                                    Learning Coach: DWilkes
Learning Area: Literacy     Vision Principle: Capable & Connected         Date: Term 3&4
Learning Observed
Margaret began blogging in Term 4 shortly after she became a learner at OrmPS.  Her blog has various posts on a diverse range of topics and she also has a number of comments from her blog buddy and other classmates.  We spent time learning to write quality comments using a ‘comment sandwich’ so Margaret is still developing her capability to do this on her classmates blogs and thus is beginning to connect authentically with other learners.  Margaret’s posts are evidence of how she connects with the things in which she enjoys, whether at home or at school.  She has learned to embed images into posts which enhances their readability.  Margaret has enjoyed reading our Learning Habitat 1 blog as well and has collaborated to construct some posts with her hapu group.  It has been fantastic to review her posts since she started blogging to see how her capability at writing for an audience is improving. Some posts of interest were her ‘7 Wonders of the World’,  ‘Identity’ and ‘7 Steps to being Capable’ posts because her passion, values and sense of adventure are evident. She regularly blogs and uses a range of styles- including contrasts which are highly engaging.  I would now encourage Margaret to continue her learning by writing blog posts over the holidays with her family and continue to visit classmates blogs to leave comments.

Next Learning Steps
  • label or ‘tag’ each post so they are searchable in the future
  • preview the post before publishing to ensure the images are the most appropriate size
  • proofread each post by reading it out loud, to a buddy at school or a parent at home to develop capabilities at catching punctuation and grammatical errors
  • ensure the quantity and quality of each post are up to standard (aiming for a minimum of 6 quality sentences)
  • continue to practice using the comment sandwich to provide feed forward to classmates
  • respond to comments on her posts
  • write comments on every learning story her Learning Coaches post
  • ensure images are licensed for reuse (creative commons copyright)
